My mare has had a few largish, hard lumps as a result of bites.

I have been putting witchhazel and arnica gel on to try to take the heat and itchiness out of them, but are there any specifically designed products that might do a better job?

Or does anyone have any better suggestions of topical soothers?

Thanks!

Also very interested in the thread, Goli is covered in neck and under belly fly rug and mask but is still manageing to get fly bites all down his flanks Tried all sorts but they dont seem to want to go!

My mare has had some sort of allergic reaction to a bite we think. Her front legs and chest swelled up so the vet had to give her steroid injections. Its gone down a lot but between her front legs there is still a large hard lump which softens and moves a bit after being on the horsewalker. I'd be interested to find out if there is anything else I can do to make the hardness on her chest go down :(

I kow it's not topical but I use homeopathic remedy for fly bites, I can't remember what it's called but if you call Helios Homeopathy and ask to speak to Ros, she'll keep you right.
