how do you go about treating lice? i have deo-sect which says it treats lice but i dont know how affective it is

my 2 year olds coat although very shiny is very thin especially around whirls and on the underside of her neck, taz doesnt appear to have anything on him though as he has a very thick shiny coat. she doesnt have ringworm as i have had the vet check and he said treat it as if it was lice but also gave me de fungal shampoo and cream, but he didnt say anything about taz? should i treat him too?

im not too keen on the idea of bathing in this weather as its cold so i was wondering if there is another way? defiantly as the shampoo has to be left on for 15 minutes before washing off again :/ and i could see there being a very chilly pony!

sorry i sound a bit dim i have never had to treat lice before! :) thank you

Ask the vet for some 'spot on' treatment, you just syringe it onto the wither area and the base of the tail then re-treat 2 weeks later, its so much easier than gaffing with powders and shampoos.

Used deosect for my donks when they had lice - its like a stronger version of coopers, you can only get it from the vet. Doubt vet will give you spot on as its for cattle, and is more of a fly repellant. Deosect is really easy to use, mix with water, chuck in a spray bottle, spray, voila! (remember to do any rugs too, or the little "lovelies" will just come back!

I bought it online. about £10 cheaper than my mate got it from the vets as well.
