Castle has some rain scald sort of on the side of his belly, slightly in the centre. It isn't too big of a patch, but how should it be treated? I'll gently pull out all the hairs, and leave a bald patch, but what product should I use on the bald patch? All help greatly appreciated!

Husband has found some cream from Indian Herbs works incredibly well on rainscald and mud fever, so much so he ordered another tube this year. He was given a free sample at the equine fair and it has worked on everything he's tried it on. go and google their site to see what they recommend.

Liquid parrafin is amazingly effective, and very cheap.

Keep smothering the area with it, and the scabs will soften and come off in no time, saving all the effort of pulling out bits at a time.

If the skin is healthy and pink underneath, sudocrem or any other product like that can be put on, but I personally have never bothered as I like the fresh air to get to the area.

Horses for courses though.
