Hi
I'm hoping someone can assist. I have a pre 92 505 ifor Williams box with the wooden side panels. The box is structurely very sound however it's appearance is let down by the fading of the panels. They are in good condition but very faded and unevenly coloured. It had been recommended to me to use linseed oil on them but this leaves the panels tacky to the touch and the linseed oil finish was washed off over a couple of months by the rain. I'm looking to bring the finish back to the natural original colouring and to protect the wood so i realise I will have to sand them down to remove the old linseed oil. I don't want to paint them as I would rather stain them but am unsure of what wood preservative / stain to use. Has anyone else had a similar problem and if so what product / method did you use to restore their finish.
Many thanks.
