Failing that (though they will eat anything...): cod liver oil crunchies, Spillers treats, D&H Heart treats or pasture sticks, Equibites... the list is endless! Gingernut biscuits also go down very well!
Some sort of spillers treats, carrots, apples and polo mints. Or as I go down to check on him before bed with a cuppa and some form of cake in my hand he steals it he's especially partial to grans victoria sandwich cake - bad bad pony, no wonder you're so fat! x
Lincoln horse bix, Spillers Horse treats, polos, extra strong mints, carrots, apples, pears, bananas, mini likits... I could go on! My boys will eat anything!
Ours will eat most things, bananas, melons, pears, biscuits, our gelding likes a cup of tea, the mare a slurp of whisky.
If you want to try new things offer a small sample.
ps
We were mugged initally for the tea and whisky, but they don't get whisky often.
my boy loves a treat. He eats them quite tidily, but apples are the favourite! If I give him an apple, he just slobbers like you wouldn't believe. It turns into a torrent if he has more than one! And he gets this far away look in his eye....
Not being funny here, but why does it matter if he doesn't like treats? Just don't give him any.
Mine never get hand fed by me, oh, I did sacrifice some polos once, they all got spat out, what a waste Some of mine don't even know how to take food from the hand.
Their favourite treats are corn cobs, they generally have one or two a day. In season they also get pears, squash, pumpkins and apples in the field, whatever happens to come into the barn - Boarders tend to bring in fruit and veg for everyone to help themselves to.
One of my Boarders has tried her horse with just about everything going I think, the horse particularly likes mangos, watermelon and ZUCCHINI!
