Brandy House Farm TREC holiday , felindre , mid wales
A great time was had at this smashing venue with just the right balance between lessons , out riding and relaxing
Setting off Tuesday in oppressive heat the journey was ok , after arriving it was time to unpack everything and go to the meeting room for tea and cakes then evening meal with everyone
Wednesday we had a lesson with helen wain a ride with your mind instructor , great lesson with plenty to think about . then out for a hack over the mountain
Thursday we had 2 lessons , one with helen again working in the arena and another with tot wall working on TREC obstacles which brandy house have set out in 2 big fields including a staircase , steps , ride up & down , bridge , ditch , jumps , bending
Friday was a free day so we decided to hack over the mountains to the pub , great map reading challenge and 20k route to the pub in fantastic weather , horses stood good as gold while we had much needed drink and food
Saturday was a flatwork and jumping lesson with tot in the arena , I was very pleased with henry jumping a single barrel and 29 spread jump (high for me !)
While the horses had a rest we then had a bowen therapy session which I found a bit weird but relaxing then made some sarnies , drew our route and set off for a picnic ride which was smashing , we found a great spot on glyndwrs way for our picnic , the horses enjoyed it as well
Every evening we all had a 2 course meal in the farmhouse with a lot of chatting & laughing round the large dining table , probably helped by a pimms or two : )
Brandy house is a great venue for a TREC camp but it is also super for a horsey holiday as the outriding is spectacular with plenty to do at the farm as well , all horses had their own paddock and stable for their stay , I stayed b&b in one of the cottages but others camped or slept in box
Back to work tomorrow , got to get saving for next years horsey holiday now
