My first Trec this year...(too many other commitments up to now)
Under a blazing hot sun, 80 Departmental Open & Individual, Club Teams, Initiation competitors and their horses participated in a challenging POR and fun PTV.
Myself & James went in for the Departmental Individual and finished 3rd out of a field of 11 competitors from depts. around the Rhone-Alps region. Not too bad for the first one of the season !!
The POR was a tricky one, more at the level of the yearly Regional competition, but not so long (about 14km). There were a few sneaky orienteering suprises to catch out the unaware, and plenty of forest tracks & undergrowth to get lost in
Those who didn't do so well on the POR had a chance to catch up on the Allures and the PTV in the afternoon. In all, a great day under unusually hot (26°C) & dry weather for April.
Here's a scan of my route trace for those interested to have an idea of the route and terrain.
