TREC POR – navigational confusion and general embarassment with SaffronWelshCob!

I really must try some trec.... .. think L would be ace, and I can do bearings, plenty of practice hiking in the peak. I can't get on off the ground though, do you have to do that in the obedience part?

It's not the bearings so much as the judging distance on the pony, but you can always dismount and do them on foot, since you have experience of that. I was fine with the actual bearings, but I kept overshooting the distances as my stride counts weren't very accurate :o (eta- if you've seen my pics on facebook, you'll see I also got distracted by the pretty setting of the bearings section for a play with the camera ;) :D )

You may or may not have to mount from the ground depending on the course - most places mount from a block in my experience, but you may be asked to mount from the ground. However, you can skip an obstacle for 0/10 points, which isn't a big penalty over the course of a full TREC.

There are loads of TRECs in the midlands, you're right in the place for it!

Ooh trec tastic I will have to check but I'd love to! Just need to work out where West Bromwich is!!

We went past that hut on the marathon today!

We went right past Ashfields - had a wee dash up the footpath on the opposite side of the fields adjacent to the ones you guys were competing in today!

Hehe- I know where you were :p Well done team- sounds complicated!

It was complicated - though not as complicated as your course, I'd definitely need a map and compass to navigate those gates ;)
