:mad::mad::mad:

So I bought a pair of Tredstep Donatello riding boots at the end of November which I paid a lot for but I though seen as though i ride every day and compete regularly they would be a good investment but I have had nothing but problems with them.

The zips literally wont stay up. By the time I've done a 20m circle in trot the zip has slipped all the way down to the bottom. I am really not happy. I have been arguing with the shop that I purchased them from and also Tredstep but with little luck. Tredstep sent me some new zips which I would have to pay to have fitted ... Which was something at least... Only every single cobblers I took them to refused to do them due to them being such expensive riding boots.

One cobbler said he would but it would be £40 a boot!!!! And he also said they would pretty much be ruined when they had been finished as they wouldn't hold their own shape.

So I have gone back to ringing the shop.

Has anyone had any similar problems. These are my first pair of Tredstep boots and although they look gorgeous and they are super comfy (when they stay zipped up) I'm beginning to wish I had just got a pair of blooming Ariats again! :(:(

Surely tredstep should at least have them back to inspect the zips, and replace as appropriate, it isn't the actual zips that are expensive it's the fitting, as you have found out.

That's exactly what I said to them but I had no luck at all. They would only speak to me via email so that was difficult enough.

Really poor service from both treadstep and the store. I got a pair of treadstep breeches and the stitching started coming undone after 2 rides. I contacted the retailer and they took them back and replaced and even gave me a free postage option to return them.
I have found that posting on a companies social media can be a good way to get results. They really should take them back and at least look at them. A few people on my yard have treadstep boots and they all seem happy with them.
I did have an old pair of boots that the zips starting slipping (after years of use) and I put a paper clip through the zip toggle and then when I put them on threaded the paper clip through the top popper leather if that makes sense. It kept the zips up, but the popper leather did look a bit battered after a while, I didn't care because they were so old.

that is shocking, trading standards, quotation of consumer rights as goods fit for purpose and tell them given their reluctance to work with you on the issue you will be returning them for a full and immediate refund.
Twitter is best if on social media as it can't be deleted ;)

My sons same boots have a little leather tab that you put the top of the zipper through then fasten the tab across, stops the zip going down.. They used to go down a way till I phoned the store we got them from and they told me what the leather tab was for!!! Problem sorted... Maybe yours don't have this on, my sons are men's boots, same brand and model.

Mine have this too, mine are the ladies donatello but they are 2 years old now so perhaps have changed the design?

Just tweet them the link to this thread - outrageous only communicating via email.

Thank you very much. I don't have twitter but I'm going to make an account now lol!

My boots do have the leather tab but they zip slips straight through the tab and then the zips just fall down :(

If you initially complained within 6 months of purchase then the onus is on the retailer/manufacturer to prove what is wrong with the boots
You have been fobbed off and thankfully there is a remedy in law but like others suggested I would tweet them first. Also post on their fb wall if they have one.
I would also send a letter before action to outline which remedy you want.

I did but no one seems to be doing anything about it. I have tweeted them so I'll go and post on their facebook now :)

Tredstep are the worst boots I've ever had, I had the donatello and da vinci (so spent a fair bit of money) and they only lasted a maximum of 6 months and thats with me looking after them. I ended up bining them as thats the only place fit for therm and thats still the opinion I hold. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, much better boots out there.

If I where you I'd be pushing for a refund, as others have said use social media and they should listen.

I ended up buying another pair of mark todd's for home and de niros which I have been much happier with.

Honestly I'm so mad. They've not been right since I bought them but due to them being so expensive I've put up with thembut now I literally can't ride in them. I've tweeted about 6 times and wrote on their Facebook.

I've emailed them. The shop promised to ring me back yesterday and no one did. I'm so angry! Buying a £300 pair of boots isn't something I do every weekend and I expect them to last.

Absolutely rubbish! I would not recommend buying any Tredstep product!

So I have emailed Tredstep a very angry email and told them if this is not sorted by the end of the day I will be phoning trading standards.

I need to stop writing on this thread haha because it reminds me how angry I am about a pair of bloody boots ! :(

I emailed Tredstep last night about a pair of £35 gloves I bought that are literally falling apart after only 10 weeks minimal use. Waiting to see what their response is.

Well if it makes you feel any better I purchased a pair of Tredstep gloves a few weeks ago ... wore them once and they had holes in them!! however due to the drama with the boots and I only paid £15 for the gloves I chucked them in the bin and forgot about them but I'm not backing down on the riding boots lol.

If you paid £300 for them I think you were overcharged!!!
My sons were only £178 at HOYS from Ayr equestrian.

Well I got them from the same place at your horse live and I just checked my bank and I paid £279 for them. I did get extra insoles out in so maybe that bumped them up a bit but I've just looked at the website and they are £220 now.

I'm so cross lol. I just want some boots that worl! Grrr!!

Even more reason to push for a refund then I think.

Well the shop promised to ring me back yesterday and never did so I've rang them this morning and they said they will be in touch with Tredstep today. If I do get a refund does anyone have any recommendations for my next pair of boots?

An update on the boots!!!!!

I actually just spoke to a real person from Tredstep who are saying that it is the shops responsibility. So I explained that the shop just aren't ringing me back and have said that it is down to Tredstep so now Tredstep themselves are ringing the shop. I don't think they liked the idea of trading standards ....
