Im so excited as in the morning im going to put my deposit on my very own Treeless saddle!! YAY!!

After having those problems with Teddi (bucking etc) I have looked into this all now, and his saddle wasnt really bad, but not as good as i would want it to be to ride him in!
I tried my friends Barefoot Treeless and it took us a while to put it on as it looked so weird... the stirrups leather are quite far back. But it is sooooo comfy to sit on, and Teddi didnt buck, but was a fizzy thing.

So thats an improvment, I still want his back looked at though, but have no idea who to ring, got recommended Mike Tew, but cant find his number anywhere, sp any suggestions for someone in suffolk would be great!

After the trial, I took my saddle straight up to the 2nd hand tack shop to get rid of it, so i wont be tempted! And guess what she had there.... a shiny Barefoot Treeless... only this ones in black!! YAY!!

So i rush home and tell OH i want that for xmas..... and im going to put my deposit on it 1st thing in ther morning.

Im sooooo excited!!

Best xmas ever!!

Funny thing is when i was a kid I only ever asked for a saddle for xmas and my mum never got me one..... now im 26yrs old and i get one!! yay!! So I am literally as excited as a kid at xmas!!

I don't know anything at all about treeless saddles and I certainly don't want to rain on your parade but if I were you I would get the back sorted out before buying a new saddle, in case the saddle doesn't fit once the back is right.

I'm in Suffolk, and use Gemma Hill from Essex. She certainly works, but it seems a lot of money for about 5 minutes work! However, both horses were much happier after her visit. PM if you want her number

I'm afraid I have to agree with Pearlsinger. If you buy a new saddle before figuring out what is wrong with your horse's back you risk wasting a lot of money and causing him more problems. Call your vet out who should be able to recommend a physio if you need one. When you get the all clear you can look for a new saddle safe in the knowledge that you are not causing further problems.

Well i rang my vets and asked them to recomend a physio for Ted,

they said that the couldnt recommend anyone, but they could come and look at him for me.

So i said and what kind of things can you do??

The vet said "Well.... we'll have a look at him and we can give him some bute."

Funnily enough i declined.... Bute.... that's there answer!
good one NOT!

I agree with you. My mare is just coming back into work after a bad back caused by muscle problems, she has been cured by acupuncture - and not a packet of bute in sight!

Welcome to the wonderful of treeless ^^
I went treeless after I realized my wages don't stretch far enough to get a saddle fitter every 2 months :D Haven't looked back!
I've got the Limited Edition Stella Drytex from Barefoot. Very good price considering it was brand new.

Good luck with it! :)

ohhh limited edition - not seen that one!

i've got the Leather Cheyenne.

i really cant afford to keep getting a saddler out every couple months either, so this really is the answer!

Having a very awkward horse to fit shape wise and having a M2M saddle that he didn't like, made me try treeless.

I bought a barefoot london and I have never looked back!! It made such a difference to my horse. I decided to upgrade to a Heather Moffett fhoenix as I wanted to show and it looks slightly more like a traditional saddle to my barefoot. Best thing I could have done.

I could shim the pad for any unlevelness my horse had and he has now levelled up evenly as the saddle has allowed him to move correctly. Hope you get a good physio sorted and get your saddle home soon! :D

Awww brill! I've always been a bit dubious about them, but having tried it I know its gonna be great on him.

Ive been lunging him this week with no saddle, and hes working so much better already.

Cant wait to get my saddle on him and get riding!

Hi, don't know where you are in Suffolk but we just had Kate Hesse out to look at ours. She was highly reccomended by my vet (who pretty much wrote the book on horsey backs) and works out of Rossdales. Can't speak highly enough of her. She was very no nonsense, took a proper history and didn't talk cr*p about 'pelvis's being out'. This is her website if you're interested. Only problem is that I don't think she usually comes out for just one but might be worth a chat if you're looking for a physio?
