Treeless saddle for jumping in

I evented to 100, team chased, SJ to newcomers, and hunted in a Solution. I did not find another as comfortable. I do prefer the older designs though, with the wider gullet.

I think the newer ones are more supportive for the rider, but tighter on the horse, and made two of mine sore. Got a cheap older one one ebay!

I like the idea of a solution, but having tried one on a horse i had a few years ago, and him VIOLENTLY objecting, I am now a little wary. Also, they are just so pricey. It was one of the new style ones.

I liked my old type so much I bought a new one without trying it, as it was in one of their sales. I fitted it really carefully, but after an hour hacking he had a sore on his back and a lump, that took weeks to come down.

The other horse I had a fitter fit it carefully, and he told me to get off or he would get me off!

Both horses love the older style with the wider gullet. I must confess they are not my favourite to ride in for stability, but my bad back is better when I do, and my horse lengthens his stride too.

I believe the owner went round Blair Castle CCI in one of the older ones! Can't remember what level.

Hmm that's really interesting! Maybe I should look more into the older ones....

Don't you find you feel very perched? I used to have one for my cob and just felt really disconnected

NO!
Far from it, as it warms, it sinks. I feel more connected then in most other saddles.
I have the Fhoenix , its one of the best saddle s I have used. However saddles are subjective. I felt much more perched in my T4 then I ever have in my Fhoenix.

More saddle-less than treeless but the Total Contact was designed for showjumping. Love mine but not jumped in it yet (young pony, will be starting this year).

If you are interested in an older solution there are lots for sale on the unofficial solution saddles page. They are quite different from the current models, so might be worth a try, as very few treeless saddles are really suitable for jumping.

They are the only ones I would jump in personally (Solutions I mean). I'm another who prefers the older style and doesn't like the Smart saddles. If you are looking for an older one you need either a Jumper or a GP - I wouldn't really want to jump in a Freestyle, even at lower heights.

There are several on the FB page (and I'll be putting a couple more on shortly!) :)

Thank you that's really useful! It's very confusing with all the different names/styles

I felt very perched in my heather moffet vogue, felt like I was a foot higher than my horse. Since then I've sold it and got the flexEE which I love...and feel like i'm sitting on a horse not above one.

I have jumped in it but its the dressage model so not great for jumping in anyway! Got a T4 (i think?) GP for jumping in now which makes jumping easier.
