treeless saddle Vs tree saddle?

when buying saddle recently, master saddler went over opinion of treeless which was...... main point of tree is to distribute weight over horses back, without tree this doesn't happen - demonstrated this really clearly using pressure meter - seemed to make perfect sense!

I don't think it's a 'versus' kind of thing, despite the fact that some people seem very polemic on either side! If you and your horse like treed, brilliant, if you both like treeless, excellent! If you have never tried treeless before some companies (Total Saddle Solutions, Heather Mophat) will let you rent one to try it out and see what you think.

I swear by treeless. I have a torsion and have friends with the barefoot one. In the treeless my pony seems to have a much more swinging gate and just generally seems such more comfy! I certainly wont be switching back to treed saddles anytime soon!

i loved my treeless, i only went back to treed as with age my mare has changed shape considerably and her withers are quite high/prominent, and in my small amount of experience treeless do not suit high withered horses, that's just my experience of it, so i went back, miss it though

My horse is VERY wide, I had to go treeless this summer as it was really the only option for us, short of no saddle at all!
He rides better in it, maybe only because my old saddle was restricting his gait? It is really comfortable for me, sitting trot is soo much fun!
I had a bit of trouble with the stirrup attachment, not very secure, had to change it, grrrr!. Watch out for that as I think it can be an issue with some treeless saddles.
