I want to buy a good treeless saddle for my boy- Heather Moffat, Total Saddle Solutions or Freeform are the ones i have been looking at. I want one that is more traditional in looks and one that will last well.

I have a cheaper one at present which he goes really well in, but it is not great in terms of quality. Now i know it suits us i want to splash out.

Do any of you have any experience of any of these saddles or know of any other makes worth looking at. Also where can i get the best deals.

Advice would be fab, and help me make an more informed decision.

I never want to ride in a so called normal saddle again since riding in a treeless. Go to horseandharmony.com. Personally I like the cheyanne, it looks nice and is so comfy to ride in, also the trailblazer. Anyways if you contact them for a sixty odd pound deposit they will send you the one you want on a free trial. They are fab!

I have the phoenix so I would recommend that!

They have just brought a new one out so now the older ones have come down in price by about £200 on the EE website.

It's very comfy and I find it fine to jump in, although it took a little bit of getting used to at first.

I have a Fhoenix as well and love it. Would really love to get one of the new Vogues now but need to save very hard.

They dont suit all horses or all riders and I would strongly recommend trialling to see how you feel. As you are already in a treeless you should be fine but still worth trialling one.

I'm selling my Fhoenix if anyone is interested!

Black, dressage, suberpanel model. Great condition, brand new in November 2006. Open to offers as it's just sat in my tack room and is too good a saddle to be wasted.

PM me for more details/photos.

If you want to use the saddle in competition then I'd go for Heather's saddle. Good for the horse and it looks right as well. Next after that I'd have a Freeform (which I have got actually!). I would avoid Total Solutions because I've seen 3 new out of the box in about the last 12 months and in every case the quality was poor - and it's an expensive saddle!
For happy hacking I think you can't beat a Sensation. I have one and it's lush. But it's a bit bulky for subtle leg contact.
All the ones with blocks at the pommel and cantle are old technology now as far as I'm concerned. They must fit horse and rider correctly or you can get nasty pressure problems on the wither, and if the seat is too small then awful pressure problems under the cantle.

I have a Total Saddle Solutions one. On the positive side, they came out to fit, were very helpful and I could rent it for as long as I liked for £50 a week. This was invaluable as the treeless saddles do take a bit of getting used to and you do want to make sure you and your horse like it. On the negative side, the workmanship is shockingly poor, I don't really understand why they don't make more of an effort and I saw a 4 year old one that had seriously compressed panels.

I tried to get hold of a Fhoenix one before I bought this one, but the local rep would not reply to e-mails and the mobile on the website was always switched off, but perhaps you'll have better luck!

Better Saddles do a good range of treeless, including the Sensation, it might be worth looking up their website and contacting them.
