A friend of mine is thinking of getting a treeless saddle. We were just wondering if there are any limitations when it comes to competing. The thing certainly does not look like a normal saddle so I am not sure what judges would think of it. Any ideas, don't mind want type of competition - it is a new horse and she doesn't know what she might want to do. Just finding out what the limitations might be.

I know you cant use the 'pad' type ones at BD. The more conventional looking ones are ok tho as we use the HM Fheonix on Gen.

Sorry cant help more than that.

I have a hm fhoenix too and have jumped round BN in it, have also done 3ft3 xc and was planning on doing intros this year but have buggered my knee up so thats been put on hold! Have also done quite a few unaff dressage competitions in it. Nobody has ever said anything other than "that looks really comfy" and nobody has ever queried me competing in it.

I don't show but people I've asked have said it would probably be ok for local showing, it would stand out because it takes a dressage girth more than anything.

But it is very straight cut (and this is the gp version) so is not the perfect saddle for jumping in, but I don't have trouble with it!

The Solution (Ansur) has different styles and is aimed specifically at eventing I thought.

The Barefoot London dressage style is supposed to be OK for BD even though it does look a bit unusual.

The Fhonex is OK for dressage, and is OK for small jumps, but I don't kow about jumping very high. I thought they stopped trials on a jumping style as they couldn't get it to work?

The Solution saddles www.totalsaddlesolutions.com are approved by the FEI for all disciplines.
