Browsing on ebay (as you do when its too cold to do anything else) and i come across treeless saddles now reading a few adverts, I wonder why I don't know anyone who uses them? tell me about them, who uses them and why? and any reason why not to.

I have a Copperbeech treeless. I adore it. Fits anything I have put it on.

The only downer is ...you can feel less secure in it than a treed saddle. So I would make sure you have a safe ride or tremendous grip before going treeless!

If you do a search on here you will find millions on posts on them. They are a bit like marmite, you either love them or hate them. If you are thinking of one, try before you buy, they do not suit all riders/horses and remember you get what you pay for, so some of the really cheap ones may not be the bargains they first seem to be.

I use one because my horse won't go in anything else and I also love it for my back.

If you get one just do a bit of research first to find out the better ones. I use a barefoot one but here are so many copys and cheaper versions out there. I think for the decent ones your looking at £300+.

I love mine, its so comfy and my horses seem to go really well in it. I used mine originally because I had a very flat backed cob that was a pain to fit but I have also had a couple of project horses over this year and it has meant that I havent had to get a saddle for each one. I dont jump in mine tho it hurts lol!!!!

I've got a Dream Team saddle, I can use it on anything from my barrel shaped Highland to a TB, it's really comfey but I don't think it would be great for jumping as the pommel is a bit high.

I stupidly jumped a 2ft 6" double last year in mine, basically buggered the stride and got left well behind, winded myself on the first jump and then again on the second. Promptly fell off in pain with my sister wetting her self and horse looking in shock that I just slipped out the saddle lol

I'm don't actually need a saddle at the moment, just pondering. I like the idea that it fits any horse after seeing so many people have issues with saddles no longer fitting as horses change shape.
Does anyone one jump in them (when I say jump I mean no higher than 2ft 6) ?
