Poppy's previous owner used to ride her in a treeless saddle, I have just discovered. I am struggling to get a tree'd saddle to fit, the Thorowgood Cob Gp seems to slip despite having been fitted by a saddle fitter.
Poppy is a welsh cob x tradtional cob broad backed, broad withers.

We have Sec Ds ridden in Barefoot saddles and they are brilliant. Take a bit of getting used to for the rider.. we use a HM Seatsaver.. but contrary to all we were told/warned it slips no more than any other saddle on a rotund horse. Beware cheap treeless, the stirrup attachment often goes right across the back of the horse, causing pressure, good ones are attached independantly.

There is tons of choice in treeless, though I would say don't go for anything cheap, I'm sure you'll get lots of recommendations, but I know little about them. What I do know about is fitting treed saddles to cobs, I fit 90% cobs and natives with traditional leather saddles. I have quite a few come to me who find the TG doesn't work for their particular horse. If you'd like to continue with the security of a treed saddle, there are specialists out there who can find you a saddle that doesn't slip!

I have no experience of other makes of treeless saddle but I'm very happy with my Solution saddles (my collection is slowly growing) I keep finding bargains on ebay :D

The Treefree saddles are very high quality (made in GB too!) - I had the Dartmoor model and both my 17 hander and 14.2 went very well in it. I bought it secondhand on eBay for half the new price.

Check the one you get doesnt have bridging across the back with a single stirrup leather - it can cause a lot of pressure, and also make sure you get the exact bespoke numnah/pad that goes with the saddle you get, as that is very important.

Another Solution Saddle fan here. I have the freestyle which I use on 2 warmblood mares and they both go really well in it. I can't say if it would suit a round cob but I can say that it doesn't move atall on my 2 and 1 of them is pretty wide and round in the body but she does have a wither.
