Has anyone here tried the Trekker range of saddles and, in particular the Bascule and Inspiration?

Right now I'm riding my four-year-old New Forest pony in a Trekker Bascule. Because this is a relatively new type of saddle, I would very much like to hear about the experiences others have had with this model.

I can't help with those models but I've had an original trekker (like the Torsions/Barefoots) and upgraded to a Trekker pro endurance (which they call a Luxus now) which I loved.

Neither of my horses had any back problems with them, the pro endurance was very stable, never shifted, suited my dodgy back biut wasn't really suitable for jumping.

My god, the bascule and inspiration are expensive aren't they? Just googled them...

I have a Luxus too. I use it mostly for my grandson's pony (the pommel arch gives him something to hang on to in an emergency). I also think it's very comfortable. But my only problem is that it's so high at the cantle that I find it hard to dismount easily.

I've got a luxus and use it for hacking and recently did an endurance training ride in it (22k) and it is sooo comfortable and never moves. I also have a solution saddle for dressage and jumping but I find that does move still like it but it annoys me when it moves!

And how do you dismount? I find the pommel stops me from leaning forward properly.

It is a bit odd at first but I've had it a couple of years and it's second nature to me now, I just throw my leg very high behind and lean over to one side in front. It's funny it didn't occur to me to tell someone riding my mare about it and she felt stuck there and had to put her leg over the front!

I have one of those, and I stand up in the left stirrup, lean on the pommel with my hands, bring my right leg over the cantle, then lie down, take the left leg out of the stirrup and slide down the side....

I'll have to try that, thanks!

The saddle is very comfy, however I noticed it sits me higher than a normal dressage or showjumping saddle. Meaning, there's more between me and the horse. It's fine with an endurance saddle, but right now I am eyeing a showjumping version (Trekker Bascule), and it also looks like it's got quite some padding and it would put a rider higher above the horse than a close contact saddle... is that OK for jumping or not?

Depends how it feels to you as a rider and if it causes instability by being perched, as a saddle fitter I prefer to put my riders closer to the horse and most report how much better it feels, but every situation is different.
