I'm thinking of trying Tri Tec 14 Fly repellant on Ryan but last time I used a long acting fly spray on him which was Net Tex Advanced it made him incredibly itchy - worse than the midges it was meant to repel.

Looking at the ingredients of the two products they are different but I'm worried about causing more problems - has anyone had good/bad expereinces with this product, especially in relation to helping with sweet itch.

Not in relation to sweetitch (no experience), but I've been using Tri Tec 14 for more than a year now on my mare who is very prone to skin and respiratory allergies, with no problems. No rash or itchiness, and I wipe it on over her ears and across her face without issue.

I'm using it on a very thin skinned tb and a sweet itch pony and it works! No allergic reaction. In fact I haven't used a sweet itch rug this year as it is so effective.

However, the instructions on the bottle weren't very clear - in fact it said not to be used on horses, but I believe that this was because at the time I purchased it it hadn't been licensed for horses in the UK despite being used all over the world for horses! I believe it is now officially licensed!

I googled it and found instructions for use on an American forum (it is an American product).

My neighbour also uses it on her warmbloods and is very impressed!

I use it on all my horses (6) and have never had a problem. I also, use a cloth to apply to face area. Also sprayed it in my partners face (accidentally of course!) and he was fine!

Hi, bought it to us on sheltland pony who suffered with really bad sweet itch,ie no mane or tail constantly scratching making herself very sore, we had tried a number of different products, within two weeks she had a spikey mane growing back and a tail and can happily graze 24/7 now.Have just ordered some more.
