I finally got my life sorted out and contacted several people regarding a working pupil placement. One very nice lady (event rider) has contacted me back and invited me for a trial day. Now all my excitement has turned to sheer terror :(
She's asked me to bring my riding stuff and i'm dreading it, i'm not the most confident rider (not nervous, more lack of confidence in my ability) and I'm so so nervous about being asked to ride and forgetting everything I know and turning into a numpty/beginner and making myself look like a right tit. (definitely a serial overthinker!)

Has anyone 'been there done that'? Or any advice for making a good first impression and making the most of the day?!

twiglets and hob nobs on offer :D

And breathe!!! When you get there, big smiles and a confident handshake!! Then say, that you are a little bit worried, although really keen to learn etc, and when you get on ask if there is anything you should know about your horse. When you get to the arena maybe ask the lady to give you a few instructions? If she says no, I want to see you do your own thing, don't panic, do a brief warm up - walk, trot, canter on both reins and then offer horse to stretch down, then pick a pace you feel most confident - trot or canter, on a 20m circle and work on transitions within the pace.

Good luck, dont worry and have fun!!

Any potential employer worth their salt will realise that you are nervous and make allowances. I would much rather an nervous candidate who cared than someone cocksure who didn't really want the job. Be honest and tell them you are nervous because you so want the position. Very best of luck and let us know how you get on :)

Thankyou both very much!! Even just typing it out and reading it again a little while later made me realise how much i'd got myself worked up about it! I'll definitely let you know how it goes :D
