I've reluctantly put my horse up for sale, at first I thought it was a good idea, I've had a baby and he would probably get out and have more fun with someone else, and it would obviously save me money and time.
Now I'm not so sure, I've had him a long time, and I do love the moody beast!. I've got someone interested but I'm wondering if I should insist he goes on trial before she buys just incase I realise I've made a big mistake or the other person thinks they may have and then sells him again.
Is it very risky putting a horse out on trial? Ie. with theft and injuries?

Think you need to say, do you defo want to sell??!?? Before wasting your time and potential client.

Why not full or even part loan and include current price in loan contract? As in loan expires in x months loanee offered horse at current price should she/ he wish to buy. Babies grow up and fit round horses and your routine will adjust to fit

I don't think it would fair to advertise the horse for sale, allow a trial and then decide you want him back. Maybe loan would suit you better or loan with view to buy, that way all parties are clear about the possibility of you wanting him back from the start.

I think you'd be better off either getting a sharer for the time been or full loaning as you don't sound sure and you don't want to regret it. That way you still have a say and you can have him back when your ready.
It also wouldn't be fair to send the horse put on trial to say to the person actually I've changed my mind I want him back!

I agree that a loan might suit you better. Look on the missing horses on loan website for tips about setting a loan up the right way.

Ok, I hadn't thought about a temporary loan with a price agreed at the end of a set period. That would suit me well.
I've heard he is ment to have his passport sent with him if he is loaned, as I thought about only loaning before, but I really don't like the idea of that as he could be sold whilst out on loan :/
