Trick or Treat gone tragically wrong - so very sad

I can't sleep thinking about a terrible accident that happened during work yesterday.
Child riding a pony along the road with an adult leading. Another adult present with a toddler in a pushchair. All out to do some 'Trick or Treating' on horseback.
A car ploughs into them all and kills the pony, the adult and the little toddler in the pushchair. The child on pony and the adult leading the pony were injured but alive.
I haven't been comfortable with my daughter hacking on the roads lately and certainly will NEVER let her ride on the roads ever again.
Having seen what can so easily happen it's really not worth it.

God how terrible, thank god it was only the pony killed, but how will those poor kiddies ever get over such a horrific experience.

My reading of the post is that an adult and toddler were also killed. Cars are lethal weapons and control should be a lot stricter on who can drive them.

That is awful, and for the toddler and the adult to lose their life, absolutely tragic.

I cant even imagine what their families are going through, plus the other adult and their child xxx

what a horrendous tragic accident.What I find sad though is the fact that the press have chosen to put the likes of Heather Mills bursting into tears above something as tragic as this.Something is seriously wrong with our society if that can be considered news,and main news at that,when something as tragic as this hasn't even had a mention.My heart goes out to the families involved in this accident.Having been through the loss of a child I can really understand how devastated they are feeling.

Indeed, tragic. To add insult to injury on these matters, the police rarely take action - although I am sure in this case because of the 2 deaths they will have to prosecute the driver.
4 weeks ago today I was riding my mare and we were hit by a car. We are both lame but alive. Yet the police told me it was a CIVIL matter - even though it was a RTA!

. Is there a link to the news story anywhere? Or any idea why the car hit the people and pony - was it swerving to avoid something or was it just due to negligent driving

How horrific is that. There will be many who blame the parents for allowing kid on horse on trick or treat night, but with all the little kids running around, WHY was the driver driving fast enough to kill the pony and child etc.
Yes, poor poor Heather...if that's news, I'll personaly eat her fake leg...what is the world coming to

Sad for everyone concerened.
The fact a pony was out is not in question
Shame the pony was out but in another way at least it was, or all 5 of them could of been dead.
I believe the pony getting hit, took the force that would of hit the child rider & leader & easily killed them.
Very sad indeed.

I saw two young girls on ponies round my way last night, trick or treating, ballons attached either side! Riding on the roads in the dark with no reflective gear whatsoever. Luckily there was a lady on the corner of one of the roads whom I assumed was their mother telling them off and then saying "just stay on the quiet roads!" They then trotted off down the "quiet" road where you could hear them but barely see them.

Full investigation obviously ongoing but it SEEMS the dark coloured pony along with the walking party just appeared in the dark and it was too late for anyone to take action to avoid the collision.
Here, here ref the Heather Mills crap when families like this are suffering so much.
Incidents such as this one effect everyone badly, not only the poor family's who have lost loved one's but the vet's and emergency services who attend the scene and conduct the investigation - and yes even the driver and his family.
I had a 'burly' policeman sobbing on my shoulder last night with what he had just witnessed and had to deal with.
