Tried everything......any tips on getting a horses' tail white??

Seeing as you can't really use a tail bag for hunting you may want to consider plaiting up his tail so you don't undo all your hard work with a couple of hours hunting! :)

I will say that I patch tested him first with it, and he did not have any sort of reaction, even to use on his body. A couple of the girls at the yard have tried it on their grey's and a palamino with fantastic results too! If you go this route, I would reccommend a patch test first!

Hand hot water and regular Head and Shoulders. Massage for at least 5mins, rinse and repeat again. Also works wonders for stripping hair dye out of your own hair ;)
 
Wash and condition the ends daily and use a tail bag 24/7 - the only way to get a white tail to stay white.

You can get one that velcro's into the back of your rug - you will need to get the sadders to add some velcro for you.
 
Ok I will be purchasing a tail bag!!
I am so bored of friggin washing his tail and it is yet to look white :( I'm thinking that maybe he has brown/roan hairs in his tail as well which doesn't help as he is only 4 and currently iron grey.
I bought some champion tails which hasn't done that much although (as I'm hunting tomorrow) I thought I would wash his tail this morning and leave some blue shampoo on for the day.......................more than a little concerned as my hand is still tinged blue so lord only knows what his tail will look like when I get home!!!?????
My tail soaking invention involves a thick plastic bag (like the bags for life), an over-girth and a rope..........
My horse is 16.2hh so standing with a bucket aches my arms and takes up time. So I put an overgirth on him, I then fill the bag with hot water (hand hot) with soap/ washing powder or whatever, thread the rope through the handles, place his tail in the bag and attach to the overgirth. He doesn't bat an eyelid so I am able to leave him stood like that for 10 minutes or so while I get on with my bits and pieces. I wouldn't try this with a spooky horse- if I used the same contraption on my mare I would get kicked into next week (thankfully she is bay!)

So I will attempt other suggestions. If he has a noticably blue tail I will take my other horse hunting tomorrow.............I can't be bothered to explain to everyone why my horse has a neon blue tail.............:o
 
the concentrated ariel one bio or non bio ? whichever is the one with chemicals in :) it works on my coloureds white/yellow tail :D
 
One of my friends uses this and I think it's amazing too, it's silver highlight stain remover by champion tails...used it on my mare and her tail becomes almost transparent! gets all the muck out!
 
Touch Of Silver shampoo, off Ebay, Equine Blue powder in final rinse, but can't find that any more but there is something similar out, or , blue food colouring in final rinse.
