I'm thinking about buying some new trimmers this year and have been looking at the liveryman element or the wahl ones? Has any body got any comments good or bad about either of them?
I have the element trimmers and find they are ok for the fine hair but not much use on the thicker hairs so depends what you want them for really.I have lister neons for proper clipping and they are great!
I have the Element which I use for tidying Stinky's ears, head, bloomers, belly fin and any long hairs when getting him ready for showing and they are excellent. I also use them to clip the head out if needed as they are so light and great for awkward places.
Mine are very hairy beasties so for actual clipping, I need my Listers, but you could probably do a small clip with the Element on a thin coated TB type if you had plenty of time.
I also used them to clip out the section C's hairy legs when turning him into a hunter pony and they coped fine with that.
the ones i use get through my mares feathers and iv not baught new blades in 18 months (i am ashamed of myself) but they still work perfect and they arent even for horses, the Wahl magic clip. I LOVE them! iv never used a pair so silent with low vibration. (My girl wont let me trim her feathers with things that vibrate much shes a pain haha)
I also know somebody who used the Wahl larger ones for horses on her horses legs and they looked to do a decent job.
lister legatto trimmers work well for trimming, can be cordless or mains. not man enough for very big hair! but perfect for chins, heels (not full hairy cob feather tho) topnots, ears. cost about £70 or thwereabouts, very assy to use and very quiet.
