Has anyone used the gallops at tring?
Are they on a good surface and is it clear where to go?!

Thinking of taking taking my boy once every week or two now that the fields are getting muddy!

Yes i think so, i think it is about 3mins past the station (according to their directions!).

Also... is there a warm up area or do you warm up by walking & trotting up and down the gallops, and if so, do you not get in the way of other people?!

I used to hack along the bridleway that goes by those gallops on a sunday morning (early to avoid the traffic) and they looked lovely, well kept and I never met another horse. I was hacking to the woods, which have good bridleways if you want to mix up your galloping with hillwork. I did move away in 2010, so my info is slightly out of date.

Do you mean the Tring Aldbury one or the Tring Marsworth ones?

I don't know if you are asking me, but my post is about Aldbury/Tring station.

By Marsworth, do you mean the gallops at Manor farm? If so, they are lovely gallops but not much room to turn at the top, so slow down early!

Having a quick look at the map but the bridleways aren't obvious! Do i turn right out of the gallops, heading into Aldbury, to find the bridleway?

If you get an OS Explorer map, all the bridleways are marked. :)

ETA - you need, Ordnance Survey ‐ Explorer 181 Scale 1:25 000
Map of Chiltern Hills North

I wouldn't dare give you directions as I got lost regularly (especially in the woods) and had to rely on my mare getting us back home. *blushes*

Are you talking about Swinburne's old place ? I'd be up for using the gallops if so. Currently use Waresley which are an hour away. Tring would probably be 30 mins max. Is there a website anywhere ???
