Pointless and self indulgent but......

We boxed up to the woods today to go out for a hack, our first time up there and I was a little aprehensive as Bert can be a pratt!

We got up there and although he hadn't travelled well he was a star once we got going. We had loads of lovely canters and a couple of good gallops, even popped the odd log or two. Did loads of hill work and some of it really steep. My fear of him stumbling and breaking his leg was not founded

and although I think I was holding my breadth alot on the drops we had a great time.

Both of us came back dripping with sweat whilst our hacking buds looked fresh as daisies

Had such a great time as I have been too scared to go before as Bert has a habbit of sodding off and am chuffed to bits we went and behaved ourselves.

Thanks to magic104 for giving up her sunday to box us up there.

absolutely well done thats awesome that you had the guts to get out there and do it, fantastic what a high! i was in the pine forest near ours today, heaven. with weather like this and horses like ours, who needs holidays abroad?oh well, ok, maybe

thank you! i nearly killed my boy off this weekend, he is very unfit and we went to the pub and ended up hacking for a total of 3hours and he was sweating like mad, we did 1.5 hours today and he can have a day off tomorrow. i have a queue of people wanting to ride him, the father in law had a walk round the field this morning, and people pulling over in cars / on bikes to compliment him which is lovely cos the work that goes into his tail/mane/feathers is alot! tell me about yours?

LOL my boy is a tad unfit but the travel nearly did him in, we don't go far as he is claustrophobic and cannot be confined for too long.

My lad is a shire x appaloosa 15hh2 with a spotty butt

Terrible claustrophobia as mentioned, along with COPD and what can only be described as a lively hack.

Are you a pig oil fan? Your lads feathers look great. Do you have any larger pics of your lad?

he is gorgeous, i just bought pig oil and sulphur powder for feathers as advised by a fellow forum member, highly recommend a supplier on ebay if youre interested, pm me. ps you can just use sulphur powder, i "whitened" him yesterday, fab and easy and prevents mites.

read my reply back, reads wrong, i was saying that your horse is gorgeous and not sure if you were saying you use pig oil or that i should? hence weird reply, sorry still learning how to do this and reply to right people etc!

LOL thanks for the compliment. I use the pig oil but Bert's feathers are not actually white. (even with scrubbing!)

He is Roan and in places very chesnutty

just makes him look permenantly grubby!

Would love to see more pictures of yours
