I would love you know your ideas on how much this would be:

Horse taken to practice for lameness examination

2 nerve blocks

4 xrays with sedation

3 hours vet time

£400 - £500?

My bill is only standing at £900 and that is 3 yard visits/exams and 3 lots of trips to the vet for scans, including on at least two of those visits upto 4 lots of sedation and on one visit x-rays (4+)

3 hours vet time - £360
2 Nerve blocks - £40
4 X Rays (including interpretation - £200)
Sedation £40

£640 total

Possible stabling charge - £10 or so?

We had similar but slightly less recently, 2 nerve blocks, 2 x-rays, sedation. Came to roughly £400 so yours will prob be more I'd think.

For the xrays you are looking at between 200 and 250, plus the sedation about 30-50. The nerve blocks you are looking at about 50 and then the vet's time would depend how senior they are and what their charging policy is, but I would hazard a guess at anything up to £450 for the 3 hours. So if you allow £800+ then you'll be in the right region. Do you have insurance?

OOO i can tell you esactly as my boys had this and the bill through...

First plate of x ray was £70.00

Following 4 plates were £72 for all 4

Not 100% sure on the cost of sedation as have a list of jabs but the Domosedan Sedation was £18.40

He also had a lameness examination which included the nerve blocking etc and that was £47

Not sure on the time but mine has just charged £36 for the visit which is what i get charged everytime

So overall (and i have literally just read this off my bill) your looking at a few hundred. The first visit i had out for my boy cost £221 and that was 5 x rays, nerve blocks, sedation and time.

Thomas has been having treatment since april which includes 7 visits, 10 x rays, various injections (one costing £310!!!), coffin joint jab, lameness checks, 4 nerve blocks, sedation three times, shoe removal....although it sounds alot the bill is £1400 but what your having is only a tiny percent of that so i cant imagine its going to be £800!!

Let me know what is comes out at! Hope its all ok and that helped you out!!

Oh and he still isnt sound!

xxx

My gelding has just had:

1x callout which is £62 inc VAT
3 nerve blocks
lameness work up involving flexion tests and lunging on concrete.

4 xrays of feet and lower limb taken at veterinary centre.
Xray interpretation

This has come to just under £350, which is lucky as i don't think we are any closer to finding out the problem with the little chap. (He is only very slightly intermittently lame).

I hope your bill doesn't prove to be too expensive!

My horse has just had numerous visits to vet.
Each time for sedation, 2 X rays, adjusting a wire in her jaw (about 40 mins surgery time), it is around £200 per visit.
