A neighbour's cat had a front leg removed a few weeks ago. It has healed very well, and the cat seems well in itself (16 years old but healthy and a lovely cat) and is eating, drinking, toileting and moving about quite well.
The central part of the wound is quite flat, however at the ends of the wound where the skin is slightly more puckered the cat is grooming itself to the point of drawing blood, and the owner has had to put its Tshirt back on because of this.
Cat owning friend advised asking vet to give it a bit of pain relief in case it is uncomfortable/painful, rather than just itchy.
Anyone had experience of this with their cats?
