I have searched threads for this topic and found a few discussions but I am considerably new to keeping horses and would love a bit of reassurance if possible.

I live in France and have recently had some TriTec 14 brought over from the UK by a colleague who originally started using it here in France. As her instructions were in French she was surprised, as I was, to read that it was not to be used directly on animals! This stuff is by no means cheap and I am now a little concerned to find out that I may not be able to use it.

Is there anyone who would be able to tell me if they have used it on their horses and is it safe to do so?

It's to do with eu regs, it's legal to use on horses in America but not over here - I know people who use it on their horses and it's hear stuff!! It actually kills the flies!
 
Yep - as per post above, it's a licensing thing. Its fine to use on horses, and I've been using it for ages with no ill effects (flies might disagree!)

Last time I tried to explain that, I got shouted at ;)
And yes, it is safe to use on animals and works great, it is however dangerous to cats if digested or sprayed directly on them.
 
Hi, all the best with Tri tech, A friend in France uses it, with good results.
For your interest, my Vet says Flymax, by Audevard is his recommendation, that will be my next purchase, I spent all last French summer trying Neem Oil !
 
I bought some last year and got quite worried when i read the label but i was assured it would be safe and it was. :-) Where did you buy it from, Ive lost the website where i got mine :-(
 
Yep! Been using Tritek on the hairy highland for 2 years now with no ill effects and it's been a godsend in my continuing fight with his slight SI problem.

It is a bit pricey but you don't have to put it on every day so lasts for ages.
