My horse gets very sweaty legs under his boots so after a bit of research I decided to get him a pair of these http://www.equilibriumproducts.com/leg_protection/tri_zonereg_allsport_boot/
which were brilliant in that his legs are perfectly cool after work but they are rubbing him quite badly. They fit fine but the design in that there are four raised bumbs down the back of the tendon (if you look at the second picture in the link you can see them) and third bump down is rubbing a small section right at the back of his leg just above the fetlock. I've used them on other horses and it's also started to rub. The boots are really good in that the mesh and small holes do keep the legs cool but I'm not really sure what the purpose of the bumps on the inside are for?! Has anyone else had the same problem?
Thanks

I thought it might just be me as I've only ever read good reviews about them. Weren't that cheap either. I'm going to have to get another pair of aircool type boots now as he really does get very sweaty legs wearing any sort of neoprene or leather boots. Anyone got other recommendations?

Was chatting to a friend and she had the same issue just recently.

I have them, one bump on one boot rubs a bit, there's a spot of mudfever there, and I can't decide if the rubbing is because of the mudfever, or the mudfever because of the rubbing!

I have had the exact same thing...in fact most of my Tri-Zone boots have rubbed :-(

I now use Woof Wear Smart Tendon boots...my boy is really prone to getting very hot tendons and even on hot days with increased periods of wear, these keep his legs cooler than any other boots i've tried.

Obviously not much use if you are looking for full leg protection, but I really would recommend them. And I believe they are due to bring out a similar boot in an event style soon :-)

So far no problems, keeping fingers crossed! But I do only use mine for short periods of time - just XC

just found this - was thinking about buying some for my window licker of a horse who is allergic to neoprene - they will only be for turnout but dont want her legs rubbed??

Snap! The lining has worn off the bumpy bit which i assume it why they are rubbing. This is my second pair. They do keep the legs really cool but for this reason i am not buying another pair. They have only lasted about a year. I have replaced them with the new le mieux xc boots. I have only used them once so can't really comment on thier performace but the fit seems good.
