Anyone use one of these to cart their tack around? Does your saddle fit in?

Are they useful?

Yes! I loved mine. The bridle hanger bit was next to useless as when the trolley is tilted back to push it drags on the floor.
Mine had two holders for kit boxes so my bridle and extra bits went in the top one with my hat, boots etc in the bottom.

Just doing a list of things I need. I was hoping I could shove my bridle and saddle in it and save my back. I have a trolley for my water, its much easier.

I had this one which I put grooming kit boxes top and bottom then the saddle obviously in the middle. As you can see the hooks are not much use!

I'm assuming it sits over 1 side of the box, if the flaps are not too long; or balances pommel down , with the flaps resting on edges and cantle against handle....?? So 'on' the box, not in it?
I don't know I just thought it would be a good idea, I think the box is big enough to carry a whole saddle okay.
I need to find something to help my back. But there are steps leading down from the tackroom and I am thinking that something like a box would be easier to handle than something like the normal type that P suggested as the saddle would just slide off.

I have this. Expensive, but really good and folds flat to take to away shows.

I really like this one, but makes me wonder whether it would be possible to convert a buggy. I had a bugaboo, the frame from that with a few extra bits woukd work well.

Off to look at ebay 😆

Thank you, I'd waded through about 750 listings to no avail 😄

I put this on another thread, but the 45L boxes are too small for a saddle. They are very useful things to have, but not as a tack trolley imo, there is no way a treed saddle would fit in/on. They are also a bit crap over uneven ground.

This is mine with a 17.5in saddle.

I've just seen your reply sorry. That's so helpful, thank you. Saved me some money. Back to the drawing board.

Trouble is although I can carry a saddle in my arms, negotiating it to the stable requires going between a wall and a horse in cross ties. The horses that are tied there are used to people approaching from behind so it's not dangerous but what I struggle with is bending fowards to get under the rope with something in my arms as it can really aggravate my back which doesn't take much!

That's why I wanted a box to carry stuff. Back to the drawing board I think!

I'm forever trying to think of ways to do things more efficiently. Have you thought about a little wheeled cart, you could have one of those saddle mates in it to hold saddle? Or I considering a wheeled tug too, I think you could attach a saddle pole to it.

I use the one on the right for my water trug. Again it wouldn't hold a saddle easily, but it's cracking for dragging a heavy water trug across smooth concrete. The roller or wheels (depending on version) don't stand up to rugged ground unless you were to fill the roller with something like postcrete.
