I am having a few problems getting an insurance company to pay out and wondered if anyone could advise me...
I have made a claim against this insurance on a third party liability basis because someones horse damaged my car. They have agreed to pay xyz amount but I now have to wait to be paid because the insurance company want the persons home insurance policy to pay half aswell! Is it standard practice for me (the innocent party) to have to wait until the insurance company have the money in the bank before I get paid out???
Luckily the damage was only body work but had it been serious and my car off the road I would have been without a car for 3 months now!
Any experience???

Did you go direct to the owner's company or through your own company?
I think but not entirely sure, if you went through your own company they would be the one fighting it out but they should have given you the go ahead to get quotes and told you which one they would accept for the work to be done. At least that's how our company (and any others we have had to deal with through our fencing business) have done it.
It's a real hassle when anything happens isn't it?

Sorry, I've just re read your post! It does sound like they're dragging their heels, probably hoping you'll go away! Can you tell us which companies are involved, might get an 'oh no!' or a 'they're the best' type comments then!! As you say, damn good job it wasn't a serious fault, just cosmetic!
