I have just had a phone call from the vets to say I can pick him up at 4pm... He has come round well, has had a huge drink and a massive wee with his willy now hanging out as it should do!

I can't wait to get him home and back under my watchful eye... I hated leaving him there, but he seemed really happy and Hannah is now munching away on a haynet!

Getting him there was quite stressful... he just would not go in the trailer. We got Hannah in twice and he was not having any of it, so finally me and a friend mor eor less picked him up and shoved him in. Hannah was brilliant, I was so proud of her... then when we got out the other end she was more interested in what was going on than where Troy was. She went striding out into the vets, not looking back for him. Poor Troy tried bucking all the way down the ramp, but with the two of us holding him, he didn't get very far.

All in all, it has been a very successful morning!

Thank you so much for all your kind words... they have really helped!

Glad to hear he's getting hokme so quickly

hope it all heals up ok.

That's great news Becki; what a relief! Have you bought something to cover your grey hairs yet or will you wait until you're completely
white?!
Try loading them side by side, don't let Hannah go in unless he is beside her and make whoever has her, wait for him to be off the ramp before moving her off at the other end too else he could panic and what's the point of upsetting him, you want him to enjoy his travelling for the future, don't you?
He'll be one tired man when he gets home tonight!

Thanks so much everyone... I am so relieved, just have loading to look forwards to now but I know more of what to expect now (never loaded such a young foal before). He is quite a stubborn little man, and I was lucky Hannah loads so well because otherwise we would have had a real issue!

Luckily, the vets' groom will be on hand with loading him coming home and then I have someone else to help us when we get back to the yard. At least we have travelled with him now

Hi Pat,

We tried that but he would not budge, so loaded Han and literally shoved him up

Hannah has had loading problems in the past, so the less amount of stress caused to her the better, and she loaded so well both times today when asked. I was so proud of her because I thought it would be a time like today when everything went out of the window. I do not want to hold her back too much because of all the issues we have had (she had been beaten in the trailer we believe) and Troy did not panic at all once he was in, and was really good to unload.

I tried it by the book at first, but I think we just had to get him in and it was any way possible. I have Richard Maxwell coming out to me in April to do some work with him, and we can work on the loading then... once he understands the pressue and release (he still struggles with this and fights you) I think everything will be much easier. Today it was literally a must that he went on because the littele bugger reared up and escaped at one point
