Thanks to everyone for your comments and advice...

Troy is booked in to be gelded next week some time, poor baby!!!

I went up to see him this afternoon, and he was an absolute sweetheart... he looked so grown up in his own stable, and was really happy and content. He was an angel to handle, I played with him for about an hour on and off.

There are some pictures (well quite a lot) of him in the Photo Gallery if anyone would like to see the fluffiest yearling in the world

Common sense prevails! He'll be better off without them. I often wonder if it wouldn't occasionally be a good idea to get a few straws beforehand - just in case....... They can always be painlessly binned.

Much easier said than done, though and still entails keeping the horse entire for quite some time.

Congrats on your decision - I know it's tough but it's best for him and for you in the long run. You will have many happy years with him and he will have a much less stressful life.
