Hi All,

Like many of you, the TRT method ads always pop up on my facebook, I'm not interested in the behavioural side of things particularly, but the modules on piaffe for example always pique my interests. My horses are thankfully like sponges, they both know things like spanish walk and other such "tricks" and I just teach them myself not following any method in particular but it works, I'm interested in different approaches to teaching horses and have not approached the TRT method yet.

I am wondering if anyone has ever used, and has had success with, the TRT online modules?

All opinions welcome, I'm not endorsed by or affiliated with any trainers or any schools of thought so I'm open to alternatives.

also interested in those who might have opinions on teaching things like a piaffe, a move which requires years of strength training and suppleness exercises? seemingly over a few days (??? unsure!) on this module, and viewed as less of a "movement" and more of a "trick"

I came into a bit of money by chance and invested it in the modules as I'd been following Tristan for a long time. I've not worked my way thru it all yet but it is helping my horse. I'm not usually one for 'alternative' training methods, and dont really see this as that, it's just a really helpful structure but is probably over priced if I am honest.

I only know a bit about it, but because there are so many awesome groundwork resources available these days I only recommend it when the main need is that basic behavioural/handling side. For that it seems extremely good, and better to be in a dressage framework, than western, for so many owners of English discipline horses (ie rather than Western horses which need to yield as a priority, not bend).

I really like it because it discusses relaxation and particularly the position of the neck which is absolutely vital to me. I also like that its related to competition horses which are not the same as QH as they have been bred for different jobs and as such have different behaviours. Particularly around the need to move the feet.

My issue is he makes it look ridiculously easy so I would like to see more videos of someone else doing it and him then correcting them. I use a mix of TRT and Warwick Schiller on horses when I have come across an issue that I want to solve and like a variety of tools in the box.

His methods always look nice and people seem to really enjoy them. My only criticism is when I see the piaffe video, the horse is bouncing the hindlegs rather then taking the weight behind and lowering the quarters. If you are wanting to only teach piaffe there are better in-hand instructors out there.
