Noticed on a thread on another forum that a fair amount of people are doing this, citing soaring diesal costs, more so in cases where they have travelled a long way to view the horse.
I am currently selling a horse and have had a couple of people arrange to come with transport to take him there and then if they like him.

I have only done this when I have negoiated a trial period, I am viewing one on Saturday and, owner has agreed a trial if all goes well, so I am thibking of doing it with her, it is a 330 mile round trip. So I am staying overnight with a friend and trying the horse over two days, then if I bring her home I can get her vetted here.

Has anyone done this as a buyer or seller?

There is one thing to think about and that is insurance while the horse is in your care and not paid for subject to vetting. You will need to make sure the owner is still covered just incase there is a problem. Good luck with your new horse.

Depending what horse I want then I would.
For a competition horse like my current one I would definatly want to see more than 3 times at the least.

If I was getting a hacker or a unbroken youngster then I would. Basically if I see the horse as cheap enough to get away with a risk then I think it is a lot easier taking home the same day.
