Hiya,

I have just fitted a Kimblewick onto my horse that was previously in a snaffle.

I was just wondering if there was any particular way to work him into it? What should I expect with a horse trying a new bit? Also should I be gentler on his mouth?

Any tips/advice welcome :p thank you

A kimblewick is a stronger bit than most snaffles and has a more direct effect so I would try to be gentler with it. I wouldn't generally use them for schooling as they can be quite harsh but it depends upon the situation. As long as you're aware how strong they can be it's not so bad. Can I ask why you decided to change to one of these? Is your horse strong? Also is it a straight bar or jointed, does it have rein/cheekpiece slots and do you use it with a curb chain as these things will also affect it's action.
