Lately, I have been trying new disciplines, and wow, it is so much fun!!!!!!! I have been trying some simple mounted games, and horse agility, I have also attempted tackless. Have any of you guys tried new discipline or anything new lately?

Also, I have a question: Our arena is next to a huge dried up gully. It makes a odd whistling sound when cars go by, could this be part of the reason why she is so nervous and explosive in the arena? Would a 'soundless' ear bonnet or ear plugs fix this? If so, which one is better, and what brands do you recommend?

I have a gorgeous Welsh D riding school horse (in my avatar) for three whole mornings each week, been together three years and know each other really well as he’s not ridden much by anyone else. So he is MINE ?. We’ve done a bit of jumping, more dressage (Intro and Prelim) and recently started towards bridle free.... This morning someone had left out a load of handy pony/gymkhana stuff so we did move a cup from one pole to another, pick up potato and put in bucket, and finally bending round poles (the only one successful done in canter ?). It was a hoot, especially when Flyte clicked what the tasks were all about!

I am the same, i do a bit of everything, jumping, dressage, I did quite a few events on another horse, but my girl is to excitable to do a x-country course in a new place (very terrifying) but we have good fun at home. I tried an equitation class on her, but she is so bouncy, I kept bouncing at sitting trot I got last place:p! One of the games I tried, was balancing an apple slice on a plastic sweat scraper, but of course my pony sniffed it out with her big nose. We also tried one wear there was stuff (brushes, my old hat, a pair of my other horses boots) on the fence, and I grabed it and put it in the bucket. We were pretty solid at the walk, but at trot, I kept missing the bucket. my girl is supposedly a Welsh (hence my user being "welshpony216"), but we are not sure.

You are braver than I am or your lovely girl is way better mannered than ‘my’ boy - a slice of apple within 50 yards would be disaster ?. Yes like you I was fine in walk with the potato in bucket but kept missing in trot, however with practice things must improve! Your girl sounds lovely, if a bit of a terror on a new xc course (haven’t tried Flyte, been told he gets over excited and a white-knuckle ride) ?

I've just taken up horseback archery as a new discipline and it is great fun! I use my dressage mare so we are not just always doing the same thing :)

I'm among the bunch who does a little bit of everything - baby dressage, jumping, lots of fun hacking, driving (weather permitted), tackless, mounted archery, working eq, trick training - you name it! My boy thrives on variety, so I don't really have any other options. :D

I took my two to a TREC training day in February of this year; it was the first outing - and first-ever time inside a covered school - for my youngster.

It was a wild windy morning and we all but blew away! But a good experience overall.

Friend rode my other horse; it was a good day.

We also did a Fun Ride organised by the local hunt.

Always good to try something new I think.

Might do a bit of Endurance at some point.......

I definitely have an all rounder. Over the years we have done unaffiliated jumping and dressage, x-country training, a le trec training day, a couple of fun rides, a treasure hunt, handy pony, and this year we had a go at horseback archery. We also take part in gymkhana games when they are organised at our yard. Still hoping to have a go at sidesaddle as well. And she is also now helping to teach my 8 year old granddaughter to ride.
