Has anyone here ever been abroad to holland/germany ect to try show jumpers? Seen a couple lovely looking ones online and wondering if I should make the trip.

Yes, most expensive mistake I made was buying a young riders horse in Belgium, she was very easy at the trial but completely different from day one after coming to Ireland, she weaved which was never mentioned and it turned out we should have requested bloods to be taken at the vetting I thought it was mandatory so none were taken. She was incredibly difficult in every way and after a year of back and forth they took her back and gave us back a 3rd of what we’d paid. Never again.

It is not an epidemic, it was one case which has been contained and no further cases identified

I think it was identified in a few individuals, but that’s beside the point- it doesn’t affect horses, doesn’t affect humans and any risk to British livestock would be incredibly small given the virus would have to survive outside of a host in a totally unsuitable environment for multiple hours, transferred on a human directly from an infected water buffalo and then straight into a host on arrival.
What a bizarre (and totally irrelevant) thing to be posted!!

It won’t be irrelevant if you go into the area, update:
Brandenburg, Markisch Odeland District: by Mid Feb, 260 animals slaughtered (mainly pigs & sheep), 10 km surveillance zone with 1 km cull zone.
Susceptible live species imports into GB from Germany (which do not include equids) are banned,
Since hay feed and bedding represent a risk of fomite transmission, import of any hay and straw which has not been processed with a treatment that mitigates FMD is also restricted into GB.
Humans can facilitate the spread through fomites (droplet contaminated surfaces) via equipment, tack, bedding, shoes, clothing and vehicle tyres that have come into contact with the virus.
Thank you.
