Great fun. Woof Wear quite helpful, but when I rang my nearest stockist she told me that "there are 2 sizes, you have to come in and try them and then order one or the other."
When I told her there are actually 10 sizes (according to website!!) she was a bit surprised. They only stock the A2 and the A5 (2nd smallest and largest), all are available in S (short) version too.
I think i'll be an A4 or A5, but my measurements really don't fit with any of the sizes on the chart on the website (i need A4 chest size, A1 waist, A5 and a bit over-shoulder length), so we'll see... i don't think i'm that odd a shape, either! Maybe waist can just be winched in a bit, or i'll look like Mme Michelin!
 
And there lies part of the problem! There are so many different shapes and sizes of human being, the product has to be a bit more versatile. The fact that you know more K, than the person on the ed of the phone doesn't look very professional and commercially, i'd say quite damaging.

Let us know how long it takes to get the right fit etc, after all, that has to be extremely important doesn't it?
 
let us know how you get on. i have decided if i can get one to fit i am going to get one for next season. Didn't know about about the short sizes......i know i'm going to be tricky, had to have my rp made to fit.

This is why I think the cage as a separate item fitted over your own level 3 bp would be a good idea, the cage itself looks like a fairly standard small med/large would fit most people as there is no length to the frame as such.

Yes, plus I am sure Alasdair (Bodycage) said that the cages are adjustable.
Maybe that's what she meant, there are 2 basic sizes of cage which are adjusted up and down to fit?
Hmm, still doesn't really sound like enough variation really, from size 6-8 girls up to big men and women...! let alone child sizes, or is that not feasible because of the weight?

the company that came up with the idea (and put a lot of £££s into R&D required to get them on the market) has voluntarily given the patent to RDA. Woof Wear will continue to make and distribute them, and, if i understand correctly, RDA will get a cut from every one sold.

Yep, volunteer guinea pig, that's me.
If we're going to table something at BE AGM at least 1 of us needs to have had a proper go in 1, I reckon!

Just bought one. Lurked on the other threads and decided it was time to act!

I got an A3 - I'm a size 8/10 but quite tall.

The shop I bought them from had 3 in the store room and he just wants to get rid of them as they are very difficult to fit. He is not going to restock!

I was suprised they aren't as heavy as I thought. Only issue is the height of the shoulders but I have yet to ride in it.

Eventerchick - can you do the clips up by yourself? I can't quite get them lined up yet!
 
They are adjustable:

shows you the skeleton - each of those little round circles is an adjustable bolt - each and every piece of metal is separate and in the factory the sizes are constructed by choosing which holes to bolt together...

for example, the front plate is actually two plates overlapping and as you can see you have a range of places within which you can bolt those plates

it is a bit like meccano

however the adjustment happens in the factory as the BETA 3 body protector has to have channels cout out of the foam to allow the EXO to sit inside the foam - the BETA 3 foam can be removed because EXO provides a much stronger protection and sails through the BETA 3 test.

however it can't be adjustable once constructed as you wouldn't have the correct channels - so each size is made to that size.

of course if a new standard was developed for crushing then the BETA 3 protection wouldn't be needed and it could potentially be more adjustable...

we even developed the concept for a version to go inside a normal riding jacket, where you would pull a sting (rather like those hood strings on your skiing jacket) and as you pulled 100s of small individual pieces, each separate and loose locked together and made a cage... but it never hit production...

we developed concepts around EXO II - carbon fibre, but it never hit production...

so lots of possibilites - all covered by the patent RDA now owns.
