Ok, so I have had a moan (yesterday) about idiot drivers in the snow, today my gripe is trying to take my Mum to Tescos in Caterham on the Hill to shop!
They don't call me Victor Meldrew for nothing!
I couldn't park in the car park as people were just abandoning their cars where they stopped as no car parking spaces available so no one could get past them, I managed to get back out of the car park eventually and had to park over by the new pub, the Ladybird on a large pile of snow!
Then when I went in to find my mum and help her back across the road to the car the trolley wheel seized up, was told that they lock if you try to take them out of the car park!!
So, half dragging and half carrying we managed to get the trolley back to the car somehow!
Mum said they had to have the managers in the shop stand at the check outs because people were queue jumping and it was nearly ending in a fight!
When i left, they were busy beeping each other in the grid locked car park as no one could get past the abandoned cars!
I expect it is the same all over, people were loading their trolleys right up and panic buying, clearing the shelves, it was law of the jungle out there today, never going shopping on a saturday again!
I hate shopping at the best of times!

It's the same madness in central Cambridge. The roads are gridlocked with people trying to get to the shops.... I can't understand it!

I wish my son would take me shopping....
I know, madness, my local co-op looked like it had been ram-raided the other day, it had sold out of bread, milk and potatoes! So I walked along to the green grocers where they were selling 2 1/2 kg bags of spuds for £6!! And telling people they only had two bags left... yet when I hovered a bit someone came out of the store room and they had stacks of the blooming things.
Grrrr

Tescos since November has made me think that a wee massacre might be in order.

**Joke**

Seriously, it's like they are hosting the world's biggest 'Stupid and Rude People' convention.

I wouldn't go to tescos if i was desperate. It does seem to attract a certain type of person (ducks and runs for cover)

Get sainsburys to deliver- much more civilised!

exactly what our tescos had run out of!! Couldnt believe it, i was like errrr why??

I used to do all my shopping in Tescos, now I shop like my mum used to in the "60's.... I know which shop sells what I want the cheapest, and buy when I'm passing. Only difference is she walked for miles with her basket on wheels and I'm lazy and drive!

Would like to add, we shopped at farm foods yesterday it took 15mins max WAS cheaper and the only thing i couldnt get was the butter i liked!!

Oh and me and the OH didnt have a row, or get annoyed having to trapse half a mile across a store for something we'd forgot! lol

its cos you southerners totally over react to the snow

!!!!! tesco is always bad on a saturday, stick to asda on line or go at weird times to the 24 hour one!!

I actually prefer morrisons or asda but tescos was the nearest and my cousin wanted me to take her round there so mum came along as well to do some shopping whilst she had the chance!
You find out exactly how rude people can be though when they are in the "self, self, self" frame of mind, I'd hate to be staff in there!
They have my sympathy!

Same in Sainburys today. I went down about 12.30ish and they wasn't any parking spaces, cars were being parked in stupid places. I had to reverse across the carpark, round cars that had tried to follow me and were in the way as the parked cars left just about enough room for a smart car to get through not my Touareg!
I only wanted some flu tablets! Going to try again in a minute or I won't survive working this afternoon.

hhahaa that would be funny!

We popped into Waitrose earlier for a coffee as we were passing - Ive never seen Waitrose as busy! The aisles were absolutely jammed, the queues for the checkouts were right down every aisle and the carpark was total gridlock to the point where there were angry looking waitrose men (looking freezing in thin grey suits!) trying to manage the traffic flow, with little success. No idea why it was so busy, we havent got loads and loads of snow and I dont think any significant amount is forecast either. We didnt bother with the coffee

Yes we are buying food as we need it, not stashing it away, if everyone just carried on as normal there wouldn't be a problem!
It was like this at the petrol stations too, queueing up onto the roads.
What is wrong with people!

The shops I can't understand but the petrol stations I can. The petrol stations round here can't get deliveries at the moment as they can't the get the tankers out so they are starting to run low - also when the weather is like this you are advised to keep your cars topped up as you never know when you may need it if you get stuck.

Ok i now know why we are running low on food... asda especially.

Its because Felixstowe dock has been shut for about a week now.

All ASDA's lorrys come through there not sure about the others!!

I cant understand why they are shut though, but lorries have been on operation stack for ages!!

But surely if the food situation got really dangerously low, then (HOPEFULLY!!!!) the government would step in and utilise the army or whoever to get food through to the shops?

there is no issues with supplies, well not as far as I've heard and at work we get a daily email which covers news for all grocery suppliers/supermarkets. Some suppliers based in the north where the weather is worst had a few days of issues but I promise most supplies are getting through without issues. Over the last week I think we have had under 10 failed deliveries due to the weather and we have about 100 leave every day!

We also haven't had issues as far as I'm aware getting raw materials over from the continent as the channel tunnel is not the only way!

Personally though our local supermarkets are stupid as well, I had to go in yesterday afternoon and really wished I hadn't but got the basics and got out. Shelves were empty though and people all around were panic buying which I don't understand at all unless you live in the sticks and there is more snow forecast which around here there isn't!
