My friend has had her horse for the last 7 years but knows nothing of his history other than he raced in Ireland under the name Danny Boy.

I said I would ask on here if anyone recognises the name or could point me in the right direction.

Danny is bay with a star and half stripe and is about 15-17 years old. He pulls faces when getting rugged and tacked up.

I think you can go on the racing post web site and they will tell you more info about him - or if he is microchipped Weatherbys will give you full info.

For some reason Danny Boy does ring a bell, not sure why but pretty sure Ive heard it before:p Sorry though cant help you seeing as Ive no-idea where Ive heard that before.

Try this site .... and key in Danny Boy under the Horse search TryThis there is a Danny Boy that was foaled in 1990 ... and as the other poster said then have a look at Racing Post .... you have to register on the Racing Post but it's free

If it is him then he has had some very very famous jockeys!!!
But still try the link in my response above as that should be his PEDIGREE!

Details of horses trained outside GB and Ireland or born prior to 1986 may be incomplete.
† BHB Rating is the latest published.

Only problem is that is all English form, not Irish - plus Richard Hannon trained in England. Still could be him though...

You could always contact the trainer, I am sure they will happy to have a chat about one of their old horses ... I know for sure the trainer of my ex racer loves to hear about him .... nearly 8 years on

Is he Black / Brown as I presume B /Br stands for this .... as if the age is nearly right and his mother has definately got an Irish name and this is his colour ... it may be him ....

I thought mandatory microchipping maybe started about 1999 or 2000? Could be wrong though.
B/Br is Bay Brown.
If he still has his original passport that will probably be the most help - especially if it's a Weatherbys one.

Thanks for your help I will ask the owner if she knows anything else but I doubt he is microchipped and I think the original passport is long gone.

Contacting the trainer is a good idea, I might do that to see if its the same Danny Boy.

em1 ... thanks for the confirmation of the microchipping, as my TB was born 1992 that accounts for why he has not been microchipped ..... I have always been amazed that a horse like him has no freezemark or 'tatoo' and only a passport
