Would be really interesting to find the original owner of my mare and hear a bit more about her history. Has anyone heard of/or know Cara Conway from Ballingtogher? Have tried all the usual avenues but nothing!

what is mare's name? what has she done before? you can look horses and owners up on SJI.ie for showjumpers, and theres also dressage and eventing ireland. also AIRC if she's done Riding club stuff. Or try stabletostable forum - an irish site like this. good luck!

Ok so long shot BUT did a bit of googling & there is a Correen Conway coming up for Ballintogher in couple of searches - her email address is coreenconway@hotmail.com - maybe worth an email to see if a relation?? as wouldn't imagine Ballintogher is a big area.
( looks like she is a judge for SJI)

She came over having not done anything as far as I am aware..... she was 4/5 at the time. I'm just interested to know how much had been done with her..... unfortunately, although the owners name is on the mare's passport she never filled in the address part properly which means I only have a name of a whole town to go by :-s hopefully that's not an ominous sign!

Thank you for your help everyone especially show pony. Having typed in Coreen Conway on facebook Cara came up as her daughter! I have sent her a message so fingers crossed she replies and doesn't think I am some weirdo! I would so love to her about my little ones beginnings!

I looked in the horse board book, and an Aoife Conway, Ballintogher -which is only a small village in Co Sligo- bred a foal in 2008 by Guidam. If you have no joy from Coreen or Cara maybe try Aoife?

As of yet no response from Coreen or Cara :( fingers crossed I hear back tomorrow! Just want to understand some of the mares little 'quirks' :p so much easier if you know their history!

This is weird as I just randomly clicked on this but.... My old show jumping instructor was coreen's son! At least im pretty sure...cant exactly remember his mom's first name but she was a showjumping judge for the SJAI back then and she used to pick the international pony teams. If you are not having any luck with a response let me know and I can pm you his details!

I really hope you are able to get in touch. We bought a 14.2 straight over from Ireland when he was 5, 9 years ago, I found out an email address for the breeder and she rang me. We had a lovely conversation and I found out that his mum was due to be put to some lovely jumping stallion but the cob from the farm next door jumped in her field and our pony was the result and yes he had his dad's genes always jumped the 5 bar gate when he had enough of being out.

Let us know how you get on :D

After contacting both via facebook, no reply :-( do I try again or just accept that I may never know this mare's history? Her passport is useless as everything on it Dam/Sire all unknown! All it has is a description of her and the year she was foaled! Maybe it's my inquisitive mind but I just want to know anything about her dam/sire, what was done with her over there etc!

If you send messages to someone who isnt a 'friend' on FB, it doesnt go into their inbox, and they wont see it unless they go into 'other messages' which no one ever does. I just had a reply from an old schoolfriend id messaged 10months ago- they only just saw it! so it probably doesnt mean they dont want to know- just that they havent seen your message.
But you probably have got their whole address with just the name and Ballintogher - add co Sligo, Irelandand im sure a letter would get to her.

ahhhhh thank you for that! I never knew it would come up in 'other messages'. Friendship request sent so hopefully the message I sent will also come up and she won't think I am some strange person lol if that fails then a good old fashioned letter it will have to be!
