I'm the very lucky owner of a Dutch-bred grey mare, now six years old, sired by Odermus R out of a Samber mare. She's been with us since January 2009 and I'm trying to trace her past. I already contacted the breeder, and the subsequent owner who bought her as foal. He told me she was sold at auction to the UK when she was 3 (so in 2007). The auction hasn't replied to my email on whether they had any information on the next owner.
All of this fits her passport, that shows flu shots in 2007 and 2008 done in the area of Newcastle, by two different veterinary practices that are approx 50 miles apart. That would lead me to expect she was sold at least once while she was in England. Late 2008 she went back to Holland (again, flu [****] in her passport done in Holland) probably to the stable we bought her from. I've contacted them for more details, but haven't gotten them yet, although they're working on it.

So I'm more or less stuck. Would anybody here be able to help me in finding other ways to trace her past? I don't think she has already competed, she was more or less saddle broken when we got her, but very green in all other aspects.

Have you tried contacting the two vets who gave her the flu shots? I know they can't give you the then owners details because of the data protection act but I rang when I was searching my KWPN geldings history and said to the receptionist if they would kindly call their client and give them my contact number I would be most grateful. I was so surprised when both old owners called me...worked a treat for me but unforunately the information was sadness in itself

By the way, who did you buy the mare from? There was a grey mare out of KRACK C for sale towards the end of last year on HorseQuest, Horsemart, FreeAds and NFED in loads of different categories and loads of different prices. She looked like she had back or pelvis problems as looked very weak for such a well bred mare.

First of all, thanks for a very quick and extensive answer!

I had thought about contacting those vets, but I thought it was going to be a very long shot. So your story is encouraging.

I bought her from a local Dutch trader (I am Dutch), the sites you're mentioning don't sound familiar.

Just on the off chance, this picture was taken a few months ago.

Registered name is Zandra V, she was bred by Vrieling from Coevorden. She is grey, but according to the breeder, born chestnut.
