We put my 19 yr old share horse on it after some lameness and box rest. I'm very sceptical about these things but it's cheap enough and having done some research there's at least as much evidence of its effectiveness as there is of joint supplements. He's moving better now than he has done for about 2 years. Whether that is down to the 2 months rest and gradual return to work or the turmeric I couldn't say, but I'll be keeping him on it! I mix 1 part turmeric with 3 parts micronized linseed and add pepper.
I joined the FB group but left it within a day or two. They were a very scary bunch!
Annagain, good news that what ever it is has worked & he's better for it. I have ordered cold pressed extra olive oil to mix with the tumeric and pepper. I was concerned that micronized linseed would pile on the pounds, he is good doer and his weight is just right at the moment. Or do you think that m-linseed would be the same as oil? how much oil should I mix in? maybe m-linseed would be more palatable?
They're both pretty similar calorie wise I think. I've never had any problems with him eating either linseed or oil (which he's had in his feed before) it's just a case of what works best for you. I find the linseed a lot 'cleaner' the oil seems to get everywhere and leave greasy marks on clothes etc.
Mine's a good doer too but not had him piling on weight with it - you don't need to give loads of it and you can always reduce calories by reducing other elements of his feed.
