Hi all,

I have yet another question! Can you get belly protection for a clipped horse - something that you can attach to the surcingles of any turnout rug to protect a clipped horses tummy?

Cheers
Ruth

Yes the bely pad things,FAL make waterproof ones that come with their more expensive rugs.
Im actually going to have some made out of old turnout rugs, with slots for surcingles.

This might be a daft question... but does your horses belly really get that cold??

I only ask as when I had my old boy ... irish TB, he lived out from April to end Nov and never had a neck cover/belly rug....

How times have changed LOL LOL

My Weatherbeeta Taka has flaps that the surcingles loop through and these flaps meet in the middle inder the horses belly.

You can't really see it in this piccy, but the surcingles dont cross - and the edges of the rug dont hang down, they fold under the belly

It mainly to keep bellys clean!
and yes I imagine they do get cold tums, when they are clipped and its the only part of them not covered with a rug, and they lie down on it in the cold wet field.
