I took Alee my 3 year old warmblood to the above relatively large local show yesterday. As you probably know I have been showing her inhand all summer at various venues with varying results and comments from judges.
She was a bit hyper whilst we were waiting to go in and kept trying to charge off to see the other horses (very unlike her) but she settled when we got in the ring.
We only did one class - Youngstock Competition Horse Under 5
Her first trot up was great although I have real trouble running fast enough to allow her to trot out as much as I know she can and she always leaps into her trot which sometimes knocks me flying
We got called in first in the initial line up which I was really chuffed about.
We then did out individual trot up for the judge which I felt was better as it was on flat ground do I managed to allow her to stride out better, the judge made some comments on a couple of grazes she has from a new horse at the yard but other then that said she had lovely confo and we were both turned out lovely.
In the final line up 2 coloureds were pulled in 1st and 2nd, the one in the first was lovely but not what I would call a competition horse and was not plaited with the handler also not turned out correctly and the 2nd place handler was also not in correct turn out. A lovely grey came in 3rd which IMO should have been 1st and then we were pulled in 4th being dropped 4 places from the initial line up from 1st to 4th.
The judge said that she was dropped down because her movement wasn't straight due to her pigeon toes I'm not saying this because she is mine but she has a very straight movement which is why I bought her and as for pigeon toes well I can't see where she is coming from at all and have never had that sort of comment made even at county shows!!
I was however very please with her as she behaved superbly and trotted her best yet so that is all I am worried about, it is just annoying when you put heaps of effort into yours and your horses turnout to be beaten by people that seem to have just pulled their horses straight from the stables!!!
