Hi, Im currently 7 months pregnant, I wanted to sell my gelding to help with money as I already have another horse which is more suitable and i wanted him to go to a nice home where he'd get lots of attention.
Anyway it hasn't worked out that way as he went lame after hurting himself and wasn't able to be ridden for a few weeks, then he got an infection in his foot and couldn't be ridden for a futher two weeks.
I now cant ride and have him at home with no one to help apart from mum who doesn't ride.

Shall I put him on part loan to help cover some bills ( I was thinking £80 a month for a few rides a week) or turn him away?

He's already looking a bit bored but getting a bit cheekey, ie. not wanting to be caught for a groom, I think he's got used to not being ridden already!

I still plan to sell him in February next year once ive got back into riding and can school him up a bit.

What do you peeps think? :)

I'd turn away, but catch regularly for a token feed (to keep him wanting to be caught) and to check for injuries. Would your Mum be able to do this for you when you can't?

Hi, yes she has her own retired horse and I have my two year old cob, so she will help along with Hubby when I cant be there, but im quite keen to get back into the swing of things after the babys born.
I am a little concerned he may revert back to his naughty days were he used to nap etc when being ridden, which he used to do when he was a baby, and that he will take longer to fitten up etc in time to sell.
He used to be shown to I really need him ready to sell in February at the latest as this is the market im aiming him for.

I was worried about this as I'm bring my 'can be nappy' mare back into work at the moment and so far ( ;) ) she's been really good. I did ride strongly past the alpacas (her main cause of napping) as I didn't want her to even *think* that stopping was an option. She had a look at a puddle that was very bright due to the low sun reflecting in it, but she got a slap on the shoulder for hesitating (she tends to whip round to the right and a slap on the right shoulder tends to keep her straight) and she decided to walk nicely, although she huffed and puffed at it. :D
