What would usually be seen as the correct turn out for a thoroughbred and a now 15 (will be 16 for next season) year old rider in classes such as;
best turned out,
best rider,
riding club horse/riding horses
and possibly some inhand classes

style of bridle and suitable bits please too?

Thank you!

Horse should be trimmed up, plaited mane ideally pulled tail but plaited if you have to, quarter marks to suit his shape, obviously groomed and polished to within an inch of his life!
Tack, ideally brown, saddle straighter cut but not a dressage one, a numnah that is brown to match the saddle and as neat as possible. Bridle depends on the class to some extent as well as the horses head, something not too thin with a cavesson noseband that can be flat or raised, snaffle usually for RC horse, double or Pelham for the others. Browband should be velvet, colours to suit and riders tie to match in with it.

Rider, tweed jacket, cream or beige jods, long black boots, spurs for Riding Horse only, shirt and tie, brown gloves, navy hat and a brown cane.

In hand use the riding bridle with reins over the head, handler should wear tweed jacket etc but trousers rather than jods and boots.

thank you very very much! i made the fatal mistake today of deciding to jump and show on the same day and the showing class ended up running (very) early so i had to go in cold and dressed for jumping :( i was very embarrassed and had to explain my palava to the judge.However, by some miracle i some how won the class but have vowed to never put myself in that position again haha!! and want to have spot on turn out for next time thank you for your help

If you have a really nice horse you can get away with pretty much anything at local level, it is nice to look the part though and feel you deserve to win rather than being flustered and in the "wrong" gear, hopefully next time it will go more smoothly, it can be very difficult to do more than one discipline when they give you no idea what time classes will run.
