ok, well both are still open......
both in the north west of the UK.....

how come Hutton has 140 entries in the 90, and Turnberry only 32 (that includes a RF, normal 90 and a PC90)

Hutton 100 has 137 , with another 21 in the open 100 and 20 in the 100U18, while Turnberry only has 11 in all 100 classes (normal, open, PC and 100plus)

ok Hutton runs one week before, and Turnberry is only run over one day,.... but Turnberry only has 43 entries at the moment!!

if anyone is going to enter Turnberry, please let yourselves be known, or this event will go the same way as Hunwick!!!!!

i went to both last year. Hutton is always generally bigger and is a lot easier to get to than Turnberry, which is lovely, but a right treck!!! Hutton is close the M6.

Agree with dominobrown. Hutton is far more central to get to for many. Everywhere north has been slow with entries this year. A week ago (so the same stage Turnberry is at) Hutton had a good 100 -150 less entries than they have now. The Scottish enries have been particularly slow. I did think more would have entered the Regional Final though!

Turnberry also clashes with Allerton Park - so for a lot of 100 competitors in the North that would be the nearer venue. As it is I will not be eventing that weekend as doing RC dressage champs.

I hope Turnberry gets enough entries to run.

I would have entered turnberry but as I have never run at Hutton, I thought I would try something different. I hope there are more entries as its a nice event. everyone is lovely and spectators can see the whole xc course if the stand at the right spot. :)

Turnberry is a lot further north than hutton so wouldn't necessarily have the same target audience ..

Wouldn't consider Turnberry - much, much too far, plus, unless my geography's warped isn't it right on the west coast? That halves its catchment area straight away (as someone who works for a business based in a coastal town on the east coast I know all about this!).

I've entered Hutton specifically for the RoR section. Another factor?

Nope Gamebird, your geography is up to standard. Turnberry is our local event & only takes us just over the hour. It is still 3 weeks away, there are plenty of people round here who will be competing but have yet to put their entry in.

I know we have to get entered a bit early but its not even the ballot date yet & we all know that there is no way Turnberry will ever ballot. Dont think you can really be comparing Hutton & Turnberry, there is 3 hour drive between them. Hutton is a much bigger event.

Ohhhh, I have just spotted something. When you go onto the BDWP homepage Turnberry is listed as 4th September. It is actually running on 18th September........ this makes a HUGE difference entries wise. Not sure who one should tell to correct such a thing:confused:

Yes I spotted that too Joss and was just coming on to post! Was just thinking Ooh I can do the 4th why was I thinking it was the 18th  then realised it was wrong!!

I am planning on going to Turnberry, but havent put my entry in yet as its not payday til next week! I am prob one of the very few people slap bang in the middle of the two events, so its 6 and two 3's to me distance wise which one I run at. The weekend of Turnberry just suits me better this year.
I do agree thought that you cant really compare the two, geographically they target different sets of people, most people in the North close to Hutton wont trek all the way over to Turnberry and vice versa! I also think if you looked back over the Scottish events this season most have had low entries up until 2-3weeks before and all have been filled. I havent seen any events ballot up here so far this year!
