Long story short horse was injured last year, did the rehab and every treatment that was recommended to fix her and 8 months later came back a recently issue lead to her going lame agin on same foot as last year, we have trialed one more option but she is not looking sound unfortunately. Then plan was to turn her away if wasn’t sound but given we trialed another option this means time has gone on and we are in the middle of winter/rather cold spell!.
Question is…would you still turn away at this time of year? She’s not be clipped so very hairy and has plently of rugs if needed!
Obviously can’t purchase a new horse until the stable is free but obviously won’t put her out if not yet suitable as she is priority!

many thanks

I think if mine had something to go out with at night and he was happy in a heavier weight rug I would.

Yes assuming that whatever is wrong won’t be made worse. I haven’t had a horse that doesn’t cope with living out, usually clipped and well rugged.

Yes, one of the Options was turn away but we thought we’d give one last shot at trying to fix her!
It was just playing on my mind if it was maybe too late/cold for turning away!

Yes, my horse has just been turned away due to lameness, plenty of rugs and hay and good shelter and she is super happy out in the field
